Welcome to Active By Archana!
I wanted to share with you my experience with dry, coarse and tangled hair, which I have had all my life.
I started using hair masks because my housemate recommended this to me.
She is from France and has this absolutely amazing shiny wavy blonde hair .
She said it helped her after she bleached her hair and helped her hair grow thicker and healthier and stronger than ever before.
I went to Kmart which is where I found it to be the cheapest, priced at $12.00 AUD.
I started off with the watermelon one which makes my hair smell like strawberries and watermelon together.
As well as using this mask, I also put Amla Oil in my hair (which my mother used to massage into my scalp for me and my sisters growing up) and every few years I get keratine treatment.
Hair History
Hair masks have a long history that dates back to ancient times.
In ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, people used natural oils, honey, and other ingredients to condition and beautify their hair.
These early hair treatments were often made from ingredients like olive oil, castor oil, and beeswax.
Throughout history, various cultures developed their own versions of hair masks using locally available ingredients. For example, in India, coconut oil has been a popular choice for hair conditioning for centuries.
In China, extracts from herbs like ginseng and ginger were used to promote hair health in the modern era, the concept of the hair mask evolved with advancements in cosmetic science.
Commercial hair masks became widely available, offering a range of benefits such as deep conditioning, repairing damaged hair, and improving hair texture and shine.
Today, hair masks, serums and oils are an integral part of many people's hair care routines, with a wide variety of products catering to different hair types and concerns.
Hair masks in particular have really grown and gained traction and popularity over the last few years.
Their range of high powered conditioning treatments deeply nourish and strengthen damaged hair.
Garnier hair masks can also be used to target specific hair concerns, as well as keep up the general health of your hair.
Hair Masks work as intense conditioning treatments that are formulated with oils, butters, and other nourishing ingredients.
They are designed to sink into your hair over a longer period of time, rather than be washed out after a few minutes.
This means that using a hair mask can have dramatic benefits on hair after only one use.
If you have damaged hair, using a mask can help repair its condition after excessive heat styling, or exposure to harsh winters and hot summers.
Below you can definitely find out more about what hair masks I have used so far, how they work, and how to incorporate them into your beauty routine to keep your locks thicker, softer, and shinier.
I couldn't help myself and bought three of my favourite and sometimes I mixed it up in one go.

How do I use hair masks?
Hair Masks and treatments are easy to work into your hair care routine, as they can substitute your regular conditioning.
Here’s how to use a hair mask:
● Step 1: Shampoo your hair (I use the Garnier's Watermelon Shampoo and then rinse if off)
● Step 2: Apply your hair mask by taking a small scoop
● Step 3: Wait three to five minutes. I like to brush my teeth in the shower or I use this time to scrub
● Step 4: Rinse and repeat. I like to condition first with the aloe vera and then finish off with a second coat of conditioning with the glossy pineapple one.
● Step 5: Dry off with towel and style your refreshed hair as you normally would.
How often should you use a hair mask?
I wash my hair on a weekly basis - every Sunday however the frequency depends on the state and condition of your hair and the results you want to really achieve.
Why should you use a hair mask?
If you’re looking for an effective way to, then incorporating a hair mask into your daily routine is an easy way to restore strength, shine, and nourishment.
This is particularly so for those who suffer from dry, frizzy, damaged or very long hair.
As well as being a deep conditioning staple for regular hair types, hair masks can also treat a range of specific hair concerns by utilising targeted ingredients.
For example, masks formulated for dry hair often use hydrating products like shea butter, coconut oil, argan oil, and avocado oil which help replenish hair and add shine. These botanical oils are also found in great hair masks for curly hair.Other natural ingredients you may find in hair masks include the likes of honey and propolis, renowned for their natural healing properties.
Ensuring that any hair mask you use is created with all natural ingredients is paramount for the health of your hair long-term.
An added bonus of hair masks is that they smell great. Garnier hair masks are made with natural ingredients, so pick one you love the smell of, and take some time out of your schedule to not only improve your hair, but also relax and unwind. When it comes to picking
the best hair mask for you, there are several factors to consider like hair type and concern.
Here’s a breakdown so you can find your perfect mask match.
Garnier's Best Hair Masks for Damaged Hair
If your hair has been damaged from the likes of tools like straighteners or blow dryers, then a hair mask packed with nourishing ingredients designed to fortify and repair strands is key.
It is not pictured here but the papaya hair mask works to repair damaged hair and restore frizzy hair.
I have tried but its not one of my favourites.
Garnier's Best Hair Masks for Dry Hair
Dry hair needs moisture to replenish itself.
The best hair masks for dry hair are those that contain naturally moisture rich ingredients.
If you’re looking to balance out hair that may be oilier at the roots and dryer on the ends, then the Aloe Vera could work for you like it did for me.
As it says it was designed to hydrate dry hair without the weigh down so you can use it as a hair mask, intense conditioner, or leave in treatment based on your needs.
So very diverse and multi-purpose you really can't go wrong at this price-point.
Garnier's Best Hair Masks for Colour-Treated Hair
I have dyed my hair so many times, it has highlights which you can't actually see in the lighting of my bathroom but colouring my hair caused serious damage.
Actually the harsher your colour treatment, the more damaged your hair may become - this is especially so when bleaching or lightening.
I have also used the Goji version as well which has the 3 in 1 vegan formula which will help protect your colour so that it lasts longer, as well as hydrate dry, damaged hair in the process.

Fructis Hair Food Plumping Watermelon
Fructis' Watermelon Hair Food 3 in 1 Mask by Garnier, 97% natural origin ingredients enriched with volumizing watermelon to give volume, bounce and movement to fine hair.
The smell, texture are great, I really like that it's 97% of natural origin and the generous sized jar of product has more natural smell and light texture.
It really smells like a watermelon juice (only a little stronger) and it's vegan too!
In the past, I used too many chemical products on my hair resulting it becomes a dry lump of haystack!
Took me a while to find a good hair mask that doesn't do more damage to my hair. Hence I can say this product ticks that box. It's light, creamy, easily comes off but still leaves you that silky sensation at the end.
Garnier's Pineapple Hair Food Mask deeply nourishes and provides a shine for my thick long and dull hair.
When I bought this hair mask, I was truly impressed.
Out of all the hair food range I find the pineapple one to be the most moisturising and it really makes my glossy.
It has a thicker texture than the ones I tried out.
And what I love about this hair mask is that it detangles my long thick and rough hair easily and leaves it smooth and frizz free.
The pineapple smell is also beautiful and out of all the hair masks this one works the best for me because of its glossy like shine.
