1. Sugar
Cancer and bacteria love sugar.
They love it so much they become stronger while you become weaker.
Liver and kidneys have to work harder to move it through the system because sugar causes weight gain, inflammation and increased risk of chronic disease such as diabetes and heart disease - both which is common in my family.
My mother has already experienced a heart attack and has to manage type 2 diabetes.
Both these traits are common in my family and I know so many friends and extended family within my network that similar experiences. This is a world-wide health issue.
So reducing or eliminating sugar intake and turning to natural foods for sugar can help maintain a youthful energy.

2. Processed Foods
Grill'd Healthy Burgers has undoubtly one of the best burgers I have eaten. If you are going to get junk good get a healthy and fresh burger.
It is definitely one of the healthier versions and never makes me sick and bloated the next day. Making one at home is a nice option too.
There is a lot of food that has preservatives and sulphites and colourings make the food look good but aren't good for the liver and kidney.
3. Soda and Soft Drinks
One of the key foods I avoid to maintain a youthful appearance and overall health is soda and soft drinks.
These drinks are packed with very high amounts of refined sugars and cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels which contribute to premature aging and other health issues.
Sugar damages collagen and elastin and other essential proteins that keep skin firm and elastic.
Other things include dental problems because of the high acid levels in soda.
And by cutting this out of my diet I am able to protect my skin, teeth and overall vitality.

4. High Carbohydrates
I grew up eating a lot of carbohydrates - rice, roti, bread.
In Fiji, this is a staple and it does play a big role in providing the body with energy. However not all carbs are created equal such as white bread, pastries, and sugary snacks which can cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels which lead to a 3pm crash and brain fog and potentially weight gain.
Over a long period of time this can lead to insulin resistance, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Both my grandparent and parents have diabetes.
To stay youthful and healthy, its beneficial to focus on consuming foods like whole grains, vegetables, and legumes, which provide sustained energy levels and gives you the right nutrients for rejuvenation.

5. Alcohol
I have a lot of allergies and alcohol has sulphites in them.
I used to drink vodka, tequila when I used to go on holidays when I was part of the Super Friends group.
And I used to socially drink and to relax because everyone else was doing it but now I just say no because I love being healthy and happy.
I have also developed better and smarter techniques and strategies to relax which are healthier.
Regular consumption and intake of alcohol can impact the liver over time and its ability to detoxify the body.
Additionally alcohol can interrupt your sleeping patterns which are important for skin repair and regeneration.
To maintain a youthful appearance and well-being, its wise to limit alcohol consumption and prioritise hydration and balanced diet.
